The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) have come together to develop a set of guidelines for employers to manage excess manpower and retrenchments appropriately.
The guidelines cover various areas, including:
- the selection of employees for retrenchment
- notice periods
- retrenchment benefits
- communication to unions, stakeholders, and employees
- measures to delay / avoid retrenchments
